Medical Gameplay Overhaul: Everything You Need to Know
Alpha 4.3.1 revamped medical gameplay with the Apollo, medgel, and improved treatment systems. Here's a complete guide to the new medical loop.

The Medical Loop in 4.3.1
Medical gameplay received its biggest update yet with Alpha 4.3.1. Between the RSI Apollo, medgel, and improved medical bed mechanics, there’s now a genuine medical role to play. This guide covers everything you need to know.
Injury System Overview
When you take damage, injuries are applied based on the type and location of damage:
| Injury Type | Cause | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Blunt trauma | Falls, collisions, explosions | Reduced mobility, blurred vision |
| Lacerations | Ballistic weapons, shrapnel | Bleeding (health drain over time) |
| Burns | Energy weapons, fire, radiation | Pain effects, reduced stamina |
| Critical wounds | Severe damage to limbs/torso | Incapacitation, potential death |
Injuries stack. Multiple minor injuries can be as dangerous as a single critical wound.
Treatment Options
Medgel (New)
- What it does: Rapid stabilization of minor wounds
- How to use: Select medgel from your inventory, apply to the wounded area
- Limitations: Won’t heal critical wounds. Buys time, doesn’t replace full treatment.
- Best for: Field medics and self-treatment during combat
Medical Pens
- What they do: Heal specific injury types
- Types: CureLife (general), OpioPen (pain), Detox (toxins)
- Limitations: Limited charges, specific to injury type
- Best for: Targeted treatment when you know the injury type
Medical Beds
- Tier 3: Basic treatment — stabilizes and heals minor injuries
- Tier 2: Advanced treatment — heals moderate injuries, sets broken limbs
- Tier 1: Full regeneration — can respawn dead players at the bed location
The RSI Apollo
The Apollo is the premier medical ship with configurable bed loadouts. Having an Apollo in your fleet means mobile Tier 1 treatment anywhere in the verse.
How to Be an Effective Medic
Loadout
- Medgel (x3-5 minimum)
- Medical pens (mix of types)
- Armor with medical utility slots
- Multi-tool for accessing patients in damaged ships
Triage Priority
When multiple patients need treatment:
- Stop bleeding first. Medgel on lacerations immediately.
- Stabilize critical wounds. Get them to a medical bed ASAP.
- Treat burns and trauma once bleeding and critical wounds are handled.
- Pain management comes last — it’s not lethal.
Communication
- Call out injuries as they happen: “I’m hit, laceration on left arm”
- Medics should announce their position: “Medic holding at rear cover”
- Use medical beacons when a dedicated medical ship is needed
Medical Beacons
Medical beacons are distress signals that broadcast your location and injury status:
- Open your mobiGlas when injured
- Navigate to the medical tab
- Activate the beacon
- Wait for response — other players (or CDYN’s Rescue division) can accept
Important: Beacons broadcast to everyone, including hostile players. Use Discord to coordinate with trusted responders first.
CDYN Medical Protocols
- Every squad should have at least one designated medic
- Medics carry double the standard medical supplies
- Rescue division members should prioritize Apollo acquisition
- Report medical beacon responses to your division — track who responds and how quickly
Medical gameplay is finally real. Learn it, practice it, and keep your teammates alive.
